Welcome to St. John's United Church of Christ. We believe our purpose to be: Believing that the Christian Church, in all its many forms and manifestations, is the embodiment of the on-going life of Jesus Christ in every place and time, we acknowledge the Church to be of divine origin and, thereby, holy. As members of the Body of Christ gathered together as St. John's United Church of Christ, we acknowledge our responsibility to:

  • Receive the historic Christian faith as expressed in Word and Sacrament.

  • Make this faith our own.

  • Share this faith with others.

Pastor Mark’s column….

Dear St. John's,

It is my joy to share with you that beginning in September we will have a student minister serving St. John's!  She is currently a student at Lancaster Theological Seminary.  Your Consistory voted that St. John's would serve as a teaching congregation...to have St. John's be a learning site for this pastor-in-training.  According to the LTS guidelines, we are expected to provide: 8-12 hours of work each week; opportunities for students to make mistakes while ensuring that they "do no harm" to members, staff or constituents; resist the temptation to place the student in the role of director or chair of a committee or ministry; provide opportunity for critical reflection and honest and immediate feedback; and finally provide a supervisor who has been certified by the seminary and who meets in supervisory sessions at least once every two weeks.

It is my expectation and hope that you will come to respect and honor this student's leadership and that we enjoy this opportunity to journey with her at this exciting time in her life.  To be clear, this position is separate from our Associate Pastor for Children and Youth position.  Come September we will have venues and opportunities to get to know each other.  May God bless us all.
