On November 30, 2008 Dr. Jon and Amanda (Martzluf) Fielder, along with their two sons, Matthew and Aaron, will leave the United States for the country of Malawi.  Located in southeastern Africa, Malawi is one of the poorest nations of the world (rank 164/177).  Life expectancy in Malawi is 41 years.  Dr. Fielder and Amanda are making a 4 year commitment to serve the medical needs of the people of Malawi, especially HIV/AIDS related diseases.  They recently returned from medical missionary work in the country of Kenya where they served for 3 years.  St. John’s has been one of the Fielder’s supporting churches for years.

The Fielder Send-off committee of St. John’s has arranged for nationally acclaimed and prior Dove Music Award winner, Fernando Ortega, to appear in a benefit concert at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg, PA.  Please support their vital ministry with your attendance at this event featuring the beautiful piano and Christian vocal music of Mr. Ortega and his accompanying cellist.

Contributions to offset the cost of the concert are welcome and are tax deductible when made to St. John’s UCC, write in "Ortega Concert Support" on the memo line.  Thank you from the Fielder Send-Off committee.
