ST JOHN'S ANNOUNCEMENTS: We had a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School from August 3-7th. The children who attended enjoyed a week of learning about giving, sharing, loving, growing, and praising God in our Rainforest Adventure. We were excited to have a special Closing Ceremony for the parents, friends, and members of the church. So many people helped out in countless ways including 33 volunteers! Thanks to everyone who helped as a volunteer or as a donor of many items! You helped us have a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School we couldn’t have done this without you!!! We look forward to next year! Festival of the Harvest: Outreach Mission Ministry will accept donations of food &/or cash for Maranatha Food Pantry here in Chambersburg. There will be containers in both lobbies with lists of desired items beginning September 7th. Thank you in advance for your gift of Love. Church Directories are available in each lobby for you to pick up today. If there is any information that needs to be updated, please contact the Church Office. Thank you. New Membership Class: We will begin a series of three weekly New Membership Classes for adults on Sunday, September 21st during the Church School Hour (10:00-11:00 AM) in the Parlor of the church. If you are interested in attending this class, please contact the Church Office at 263-8593. 20th Fall Bazaar - Saturday, October 25th, 2008: Plan to volunteer in the area that interests you: Baked Goods, Crafts, Flea Market, Lunch, Publicity, Quilt Raffle. If you can crochet and are willing to make “scrubbies” this summer or if you have an idea for something new and different for our special year, please call the church office. SAFE CHURCH INITIATIVE: Consistory has approved the formation of a working group to investigate the components of the “Safe Church” concept. As part of this task, the group will be reviewing existing church policies and procedures as well as defining potential recommendations for future consideration. Issues such as physical security of the buildings, existing insurance coverage, youth events including camp, and Nursery School safety concerns are among the topics being reviewed and discussed. See the June SPIRIT for members of this working group. Trustees are also being kept informed and involved. More information will be forthcoming as the group continues to clarify its mission. Church time nursery needs your help….Volunteers are always needed to provide ongoing staffing of this ministry. If you are willing to help, please contact the church office. ST. JOHN’S NURSERY SCHOOL RECYCLING: St. John’s Nursery School is collecting and recycling empty ink cartridges from various types of printers. This fund-raising project will directly benefit our school, as well as help us be good conservationists. To avoid spills, place your used ink cartridge in its original box or in a Ziploc bag. Cartridges can then be brought to the Church and placed in boxes that are located in both lobbies. Thank you in advance for your support. BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS: Please make sure you have all your bulletin announcements in the church office by Wednesday of each week. If the announcement is not church related, we will only put them in two to three weeks in advance of the date, depending on space available.
