Safe Church Policy

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

In response to the request from Consistory, the Safe Church Working Group continues to make progress in drafting the various components of a Safe Church Policy Manual. With the assistance of two attorneys who are members of St. John's - Anne Johnson and Bob Schollaert - the Working Group is seeking to ensure that the Manual includes procedures and policies that apply to:

  • Screening expectations for staff and volunteers who interact with children, youth, or vulnerable adults
  • Supervision guidelines for children, youth, or vulnerable adults involved in church activities that include, but not limited to, Sunday Nursery, Church School, Worship Service, Youth events, camp, overnight events, transporting youth, mentoring youth, the Nursery School, and other church sponsored activities
  • Responding to complaints or inappropriate behavior Eventually, the proposed Policy Manual will come before the Consistory and the Congregation. We seek and welcome your input, comments, and suggestions.

Please share your thoughts with the Safe Church Working Group, which includes the Committee on Church and Ministry. Members of this committee are listed on the bulletin board in front of the Church office.
