We will end the evening with a Delectable Dessert Taste-Off which will serve as a fund- raiser.  People will sign up to bring creative and tasty desserts...and those who attend will sample them & vote for their favorite using their pocketbooks!  Please come for an informational and fun evening and to meet & talk to the fielders.  An offering will be taken up for their mission in Malawi.  The praise team will provide inspirational music.  Please come out & get involved in the mission work of our congregation.

SMALL GROUPS:

Are you looking to make a connection? The following small groups are looking for you. Take advantage of these opportunities to meet new folks and enjoy a time of fellowship. If you have an idea for a small group, contact the church office.

  • MEN'S BREAKFAST ~ 1st Thursday of each month, 7:00 a.m. at Chris's Country Kitchen, no reservations required.

  • WOMEN'S BREAKFAST ~ 3rd Tuesday each month, 8:30 AM at Bob Evans,  no reservations required

  • BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP ~ We are currently studying "Listening To The  Heartbeat Of God : A Celtic Spirituality", by J. Phillip Newell.  Contact the church office if you have any questions.

  • ADULT BELL CHOIR ~ The adult handbell choir is always looking for new bell ringers.  A small bit of music reading ability is all that is needed.  Do you know the difference between quarter, half and whole notes?  Our group involves many different ages from high school to senior citizen, and we have ringers from the Contemporary and Traditional services.  If you would like to give it a try, please contact the church office.  Come ring with us and explore a new way to worship God.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY:

ALL women of St. John's are encouraged to attend and/or support upcoming Women's Ministry events.  Women's Ministry News:

  • 20th Annual Fall Bazaar - Saturday, October 25th, 2008: Plan to volunteer in the area that interests you: Baked Goods, Crafts, Flea Market, Lunch, Publicity, Quilt Raffle.  If you can crochet and are willing to make “scrubbies” or if you have an idea for something new and different for our special year, please call the church office.

  • Monthly Women's Luncheon: Check the bulletin board in the lobby as well as the Sunday bulletins & SPIRIT for dates/locations.

  • Quilting: A small group of women meet Tuesday mornings at 9:30 AM to quilt.  They were blessed with a new recruit last month.  Was it you?  This small group has made possible many extra dollars for many extra improvements at St. John’s.  This is one avenue any lady may use to enjoy the fellowship of other women.  Fellowship fosters unity.
